Diesel fuel has more usable energy so more of it is used to get the vehicle down the road than to run the other moving parts. Believe it or not, diesel fuel saves truckers money because if they were using other fuels like unleaded — they would be spending more money filling up their trucks due to the fact that other fuels are not meant for big rigs. 

U-turns are dangerous

It’s not only dangerous for the semi driver to try and make a U-turn for themselves, but it’s dangerous for the other vehicles on the road. Due to the number of blind spots semi’s have they may not be able to make the turn safely or legally. 

They weigh a ton

Semi’s diesel engines weigh an average of 3,000 lbs. Which is over a ton (2,000 lbs). That is not an easy load to pick up and carry around. Due to the heaviness of the equipment, it is important that truckers follow all safety guidelines put in place so they don’t put themselves at risk of getting hurt or injuring other motorists.
