Tips for checking your truck’s A/C

Believe it or not, the biggest threat to your truck is overheating. And you may be surprised to find out that one of the best ways to cool down a semi truck’s engine and the radiator is by using an air conditioner. A common misconception among non-truckers is that turning off your AC will save gas money – but in reality, this can actually cause more harm than good.

So if you’re looking for a quick way to cool down during hot summer days on the highway, follow these steps:

  1. The first step to repairing your AC is to determine what the problem is
  2. Is there any ice buildup on the condenser or outside of the truck’s A/C unit that might have caused damage due to freezing water in contact with hot components
  3. Check for dirt and debris blocking air flow through vents in the cab
  4. If none of those seem likely, take a look at your fuse box under the hood and see if any fuses are missing or blown out
  5. You can also check your engine coolant level – it should be between half-full and full

The semi-truck AC repair process is fairly simple. All you need to do is contact a qualified mechanic and make an appointment for the service.
